Despite once served as the former martial arts instructor of the Imperial Guards, Lin Chong is a man of the least ambition, and only dreams of leading a happy life with his wife and ending it the same way. However, the ever-degenerating society makes it impossible for decent people to stand upon his dignity.

Falling out with and set up by the then Grand Marshal Gao, Lin Chong is deployed to a faraway pasture to tender for the forage. On that very night, the hut is collapsed by the heavy snow and Lin Chong only has to seek shelter in a neighboring temple to stay the night.

It is quiet in the dead of the moonlit night, and all that can be heard is the cacophony of the arrows shot from hiding. It is beyond imagination that the former hero should have been reduced to such a predicament! To make or to break, the cornered man has now made his choice.
